*I expect to be selling my Special Edition Volume 1 license soon, now that I've bought the complete Special Edition bundle. The version of the Garritan Personal Orchestra for an older version of Finale works here in the sound isolation studio on the Mac Pro (Early 2008) running macOS El Capitan (10.11.6), but it does not work as the NOTION preset (Garritan Personal Orchestra). It seems to me that finding a decent orchestral library for $100 is a tall order. GPO 5 represents the next step, with many additional new instruments, techniques, performance spaces and reverbs, and instrument body resonances to provide the next level of breathtaking. Still, lots of people are happy with EastWest's Symphoniv Orchestra, including the silver edition, and you may be one of them. Garritan Personal Orchestra® democratized the creation of orchestral music by making a comprehensive collection of virtual orchestral instruments affordable. I upgraded to the full platinum version a few months ago and it took me a little longer to regret it, because despite the close mic options, the playability remains crappy on many if not most of the instruments/articulations compared, say, to VSL's products which hit the sweet spot for me (but a very entry-level orchestra from them - the Special Edition volume 1 - costs maybe $250 during their occasional sales*).

I bought this on sale for $100 a few years ago (the entry level silver version) and regretted it immediately because most of the instruments lack that "playability" factor (largely, I think, because they sound like they're 50 feet away from you due to the single, big room mic pair). garritan - world-clss virtual instruments & sound libraries.
